You only have to watch the way the dems are acting in Washington to see the writing on the wall. They're acting spoiled rotten life long diabetics, turned loose in a candy store with no adult supervision. It's like fifty years of pent up liberal drooling is on display as they're going for the full monty, every little socialist fascist fantasy is going to be passed even if it bankrupts the country, and it will. Oh, don't get me wrong, they're going to try and pay for it, they are so seriously going to try and pay for it. There are so many trial balloons floating over DC you'd think it was D-day on the English coast. Everything is being tried on for size from taxing private insurance to a national VAT. They've even tried two versions of VAT, one that would exclude the majority below $200k a year from income tax, the other that leaves things as they are and tosses in a 25% VAT.Isn't that awesome? If you are hard enough working to earn over $1 million a year, your total effective tax will exceed 88% (assuming you spend all the after tax money you earn, of course, which if they do this won't happen). The fact that these morons are even THINKING of a VAT proves that they're off the hinge. Every time this thing which has all but bankrupted business in Europe has been brought up in the past it was laughed off the stage, and cost more than a few dems their office.

I'm convinced there is only three things that can save us at this point, and I'll give them in increasing probability (should you believe we're not lost already).

1) The conservatives (hopefully not repubs) win HUGE in '10. About a hundred seats change hands (and 15-20 senators) and this shit is stopped...dead. The ridiculously slow rate they're actually spending the money means it might be possible to reverse a lot of the damage in spending. (not if they pass socialized medicine though, more on that later). These conservatives wouldn't be able to rest complete control, but the dems would be so freaked out and The One so afraid he would be a one term wonder they'd all back off and suddenly discover a moderate side.

2) A wave of tax revolts sweep the country in the next six months. I think a little of this is already under way. Evidence? Tax receipts are down by $375 billion. Pew research says it shouldn't be more than $150-200 billion at this point. Glenn Beck had a guest the other day, a rare conservative actor named Craig T. Nelson (Coach) actually said he was considering the idea of stopping paying his taxes. What? Wow, really? Yes, and I think some are doing it already, or going Galt. The government loves nothing more than throwing anyone who doesn't pay their taxes in jail (unless your a dem, then you get a job and forgiveness). They love it so much it's usually front page news, especially around tax time. But what do they do if a million, two million, ten million of us stop paying taxes? Throw us all in jail? Maybe, if you believe in the conspiracy theorists talking about concentration camps. If this movement grows in strength, it could turn the tide.

3) The government gets its wet dream and passes socialized medicine. Why is this a big one? Because it's MY TIPPING POINT. If they do this, I'll spend the next six months (they'll have to wait at least that long to get it off the ground) saving every dime I can, quit my job, and start sucking as much free shit from the government as possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to take the government down, I'm just hurrying it along a little. I will also encourage as many others to do the same as well. This is 'going Galt' for our modern world. I will deny the beast my brain, my effort, my care for the countries government. At that point it is obvious that there are more bottom feeders than workers, so I don't care any more. I'll ride it out and wait to see what comes out the other side. And I know there will be millions more like me. They can't keep it up forever, not without money and our cooperation. The world economy will collapse without our buying, giving, and caring. It is all but inevitable.

I think the damage is done. The nation will never be the same again, there is no way they can put the shit back in the horse. You can't run up a debt bigger than the entire nations GDP and suggest there is a way to pay it off. This president has not spent more money in 100 days, than all the presidents before him in the last 30 years. Even FDR would be agog at what is going on. Hyper inflation is right around the corner. Our treasurer is in China begging them to buy our bonds. And after spending a couple billion they're now slobbering over the idea of national healthcare (conservative estimates, $2.5 trillion over the next five years). Bye bye baby.

Remember, elections have consequences.

Sic Semper Tyrannis

Just another Oval Office meeting...

Okay, this is just too funny to be believed. The biggest shit sandwich ever conceived of, ever made, and ever force fed to the American public. If you've been following along you've known that I don't approve of our newly minted and esteemed president, the one, high holiest, the anointed one, Barak Hussien Obama. McCain sucked, Obama is a nuclear powered Hoover. Sometimes I'm so sick of being a Libertarian (especially an Objectivist), I can't see straight. Anyway, on two the doodoo snack.

How do you go about destroying the most power free economy the world has ever know? Just watch TV, we're seeing a demonstration right now. First, when banks and businesses act like morons and become insolvent, continually throw billions of dollars at them and claim they are too big to fail. Second, threaten to raise taxes during a recession, and actually do it. Three, when no one will buy your increasingly worthless bonds to finance the biggest spending spree in world history, just monetize the debt! Tada! What is monetization? Well, when no one buys your worthless bonds, why you just buy them yourself! While the press has carefully been keeping your attention to the BS issue of a few million in bonus paid to a company execs (a company that should be in bankruptcy right now), the Fed (Federal Reserve) ordered the printing of a TRILLION is cash reserves, and then bought the bonds to coner that money. This is the real world equivalence of loaning yourself a hundred bucks, and writing a check from the same account to cover the withdrawal. The money doesn't exist, it's a paper trick.

So what does this mean? On it's surface, not too much. We've done it before for a few billion here and there. But for trillions? Never. Monetizing is extraordinarily inflationary by nature. Big surprise, when you dump super tanker loads of cash on the market, it gets less valuable. Worse in this case, the money is being printed to make it cheaper and more available for banks to borrow that money, but none of them are interested. They're driving up inflation for nothing. Banks won't start loaning money until the bleeding in the monetary and insurance market stops. And thanks to bailout after bailout, that won't happen any time soon. AIG is likely going to die anyway, the sad truth is their liability is in the trillions, not hundreds of billions. They ran up this debt by underwriting everything from toxic housing loans (you listening democrats?), to monetary hedge funds (and you too Republicans?). Like Madoff, it was a smooth gig until the markets went into the toilet.

To stop this decent into hell and save us all from ourselves, our illustrious prez, he who can do no wrong, is throwing trillions at the problem. We who studied economics even a little figure that lesson was learned by FDR and Johnson, namely you can't spend your way to prosperity. But suggesting FDR's spending was akin to a drinking problem, you'd have to say Obama is a remake of Leaving Las Vegas. He's determined to spend us into oblivion. Honestly, I'm at a loss for which scenario is more likely. Is he just trying to save us by spending the next five generations savings, or is this the classic example of a generation of pent up ultra liberal socialistic wet dreams come true? Either way, it ain't good kids. OMB guesstimates the deficit this year with Obama's first budget to be 2.5 TRILLION. One year. He is at a pace to double the entire national debt in one year. In never agreed he was the first black president, and many historian agree with me. But in this way, he is going to be historic, fo sho.

I've written about a tipping point, how far off can it be? Who guessed that Ayn Rand had is to right, and so wrong. The only thing she didn't take into account was the ability for a government to just run up debt until it all comes crashing down. If they'd been forced to actually generate revenue for all this bull shit, they'd have taxed this nations producers into Galt's Gulch a decade ago.

I've never been more happier to be living fifty miles from a major city. It all feels like a city of glass, built on a major fault line, right next to an active volcano. There are several possible tipping points to talk about.

1) The point that debt becomes so much that our economy becomes insolvent.
2) The point that individual liberties are so devastated that people start going seditious movements.
3) The point that taxes become to egregious that we simply refuse to pay them.

I'm sure there are a few more, but there are becoming so many I'm having a hard time keeping them all straight.

But beyond these three basic points I've mentioned above, there is a more subtle one. That point at which a significant percentage of the population, a particular percentage of the population, has finally had it. What percentage? The workers. The industry builders. The inventors. The true entrepreneurs. The creative minds of the nation. The ex-military heroes and leaders. In other words that percentage that accounts for like 95% of the federal budget. For the sake of conventience I'll add in anyone that pays at least 5% of their income in federal taxes. I can't include those that pay state taxes, sorry. They very so much its not possible. I know 5% might not seem like much for someone who makes two hundred thousand a year, but for those out there making twenty thousand, that 5% is kinda painful. I know, I've been there. My family makes more than $90 thousand now, and we're went over 15% last year (over 22% if you include state). Pain is all relative. I could sure use that ten thousand or so a year. I'd even give a portion of it to charity! More than I do now, anyway. But the government doesn't really give m that choice, do they?

So there's that percentage that is almost undefinable of a portion of the population that cuts across almost all lines. For some strange reason these people are mostly conservative. Go figure! For some strange reason (snark), it seems most of the non-tax payers are liberals. How the hell did that happen? Well, wasn't it Thomas Jefferson that said a democracy would only survive until the electorate would realize that could vote itself goodies from the treasury?

So what do we have now? We have democrats promising unlimited goodies to anyone who will vote for them. Free healthcare (not free, just nationalized), free housing, free food, guaranteed jobs (if you feel like it), free bailouts if your house is destroyed because you built it in a tornado zone, etc, etc, etc. Sound kinda like what Thomas Jefferson talked about?

I'm talking like this because I sense a dynamic after this last election I've never felt before. I'm not 100 years old, but I'm also not 18. I've been through fifteen election cycles, eight presidential cycles, that I was old enough to remember. I've never seen this sort of shit before. The democrats and their allies in the uber left fringe are completely unhinged. They're the first to accuse of hate, but you don't see the right doing any of it now, only the left. AND THEY WON! There is significant concern here that now that they have won, they will make it impossible for anyone else to. Obama is already going on about revoking ALL presidential executive orders. Don't get me wrong, these things are about as anti-liberatrian as possible, but no president before ever stepped in and attempted to scorch-earth the previous administration.

The first 100 days will be very telling. He's got a big hardon over the possibility of throwing down his thug thizzle on capital gains, raising them to 75%, and also going after the coal industry. Either of these moves during a recession is like throwing gasoline on a brush fire. The voters aren't idiots, just blind sheep. If the economy goes into a complete nosedive in the first six months, the dems will get slaughtered in the mid term.

Once again, it's wait and see. But I'm going to be prepared as possible. The old Gods will have to be merciful for us to make it through this one.

All HAIL THE ONE! He Hath Ascended...

President Barack Hussien Obama. Wrap your lips around that one and think on it for a while. Besides this man being the most liberal president since FDR, there is a lot more there that leaves me stunned. The fact of his heritage is much bigger (IMHO), than the fact that he is black. BTW, he isn't the first black president. If you follow the insistence of some people, even 1/10th black blood is enough to make you black. In that case Warren Harding (29th Pres) was certainly, his great grandmother was black. But ultimately, who gives a crap? What is more stunning is Obama's muslim ancestry. What's the big deal? We're in a real struggle around the world with murderous muslim terrorists, and only seven years out from the most devastating attack on US soil, by muslims. Amazing. The only thing that would have been more stunning would have been if after WWII, the first president elected would be of direct German or Japanese ancestry. Does this signal some sort of 'maturing' of our society, or a deep seated suicidal tendency that would leave Freud shaking his head? I don't know, but it still amazes me.
Beyond all that, Obama had his first presser today, and he continued from the campaign without losing a beat. Everywhere the man walked for the last year has been like watching a clown at a parade. Every few feet he reaches into his pocket and throws out seemingly endless handfuls of treats, toys, and goodies. This is exactly what Obama is doing. I'm trying to think, is there anyone or anything he hasn't volunteered the federal treasury to rescue? Let's see;

1) Wall Street - Check
2) Huge insurance companies - Check
3) Massive government controlled real estate lenders practicing bad policies - Check.
4) Automotive companies no longer able to compete because of unions sucking them dry - Check
5) States in trouble - Check
6) CITIES - Check
7) Basically every idiot who bought something on credit the couldn't afford - CHECK!

OMFG! In the speech he really said it, I had to back up the DVR twice and listen. States who were in trouble would be bailed out so that states didn't have to raise taxes. Same for some cities. Auto companies. Individuals who can't pay their mortgages. Back in the great depression Hoover spent millions creating make-work jobs, to no avail. The only thing that saved us was WWII. Obama is taking it one step further. He's just going to pay everyone off. My wife and I have two car loans and they're squeezing us a bit. I think I'm going to email Obama and ask for a bailout!

So tell me this, where exactly is this money coming from? Part of the turbulence we've just experienced was the result of our currency on shaky ground. If we weren't five trillion in debt, there wouldn't have been a credit crisis. His solution, spend another trillion or two! Whoo-hoo! Money for everyone. The democrats sneered at President Bush's stimulus checks last year as a gimmick (even though we now know that it helped, a little), but Obama didn't miss a beat saying he's going to send everyone an 'energy offset' check for $1,000.00. At least he's planning on taxing the oil companies a windfall tax on that. Not that this is a sane way to celebrate lowered gas prices, but it won't stop him. Oh, and all the time he's opening the treasury and offering everyone a basket to better carry out the loot, he's saying he wants to balance the budget, lower the defeceit, and return fiscal responsibility to DC. Are you fraking kidding me? I was always amazed at Bill Clinton's ability to lie with a straight face (and make people smile in the process), but this guy's Svengali ability sends a chill up my spine (unlike Chris Mathews thrill somewhere else). It's like Vader reaching out with the force, believe him or be crushed.

So, where do we go from here? If he can manage to hand out money for the next two years, no where but down. Besides, I'm sure every bad hiccup for the next four years will be blamed on Bush. The best hope for any conservatism at all is a meltdown on Obama's part. He's promised so many, so much, there is no way in hell he can come close. And as we've seen from the moonbats on the web, these people are dangerous. If he doesn't tow the moveon.org, daily kos, code pinko line, they'll turn on his like an alley cat. Does that mean he'll do what they want? Unlikley. Obama only does what he wants.

Here's what we need to watch closely;

1) Fairness doctrine. If Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid get this atrocious thing through, the opposition is dead. Some of you might think that is a good thing, but I want you go back in history and tell me where in history when an opposition party is obliterated that this has served the people? One party or the other in complete unfettered control is not how our nation is structured. At least not any more (I'm referring to the time before parties, it won't be back). Talk radio has energized the national debate, and no matter how you look at it, this is a good thing. You really want all those scary right-wingers out there in the streets with guns instead of in their basements listening to Micheal Savage?
2) Tax rebates. If he rolls out a long list of 'tax rebates' and makes sure they go to everyone (if you don't pay taxes in the first place and get a check, then that is not a rebate, its welfare), then he's trying to distract us with Bread-and-Circuses. Watch more closely.
3) Tax cut repeals. Obama was all about giving 95% of us a tax rebate (even though some 40% don't pay anything now), then he says he'll repeal the Bush tax cuts. Well, me and a few million other middle income families got more than a few hundred from those tax cuts. So tell me how that isn't a tax increase?
4) Remove 401(k). Yep, not kidding on this one. They are talking right now about removing the tax exemption for the 401(k). Instead you can contribute to a 'federal retirement fund' and be given a little 3% growth each year. Even this year, most 401(k)s will do better than 3%. But he likes this because the government will 'own' those funds, and a little bonus is if you die before exhausting the funds? The government keeps half! WTF? Why do democrats love taking dead peoples money?
5) Guns, guns, guns. Yeah, I'm talking about guns. Obama is a gun hater from way back. Whenever a democrat talks about 'not restricting a hunters rights' or 'common sense gun control', I want to run for the nearest gun store. I don't really think much will happen in his first term, too much more to do. Count on a return of the nonsensical assault weapons ban and closing of the so called gun show loophole. He'll save the real damage for a second term, maybe after appointing an ultra left supreme court justice or two. If he takes this on early, its a real bad sign. Obama doesn't tackle stuff that he can't win. Gun sales nationally are up 15%. After January 20th, i suspected sales will have doubled.
6) National Service -This is the most Orwellian of them all. He said during the primaries that we need a homeland security force, "as well funded, as well trained, and as well equipped as the US military". Yeah, his words. What, in addition to the FBI, CIA, NSA? Is he serious? We spend more than half a trillion on national defense already. Add another half a trillion. And besides, what are they supposed to do? Guard the polls? Help ACORN register democrats? Confiscate private firearms? No, save that for the second term. It's hard not to look at this and think of rows of well dressed brown shirts marching in formation. But that besides, he said that every highschool kid should be REQUIRED to "volunteer" 5o hours a year, and every college student be REQUIRED to "volunteer" 100 hours a year. Really? Sounds a lot like endentured servitude, or SLAVERY. Required? Oh, he dropped that line today, but even though its gone, it is still a rare view into what Obama thinks. Even more valuable than telling Joe the Plumber to spread the wealth.

Keep a watch on all of these. And lets see just how 'post partisan' he is with Republicans who still hold enough seats in the senate to filibuster. I suspect when he reaches across the isle, he'll be holding a billyclub behind his back.

So all hail President Barack Hussien Obama. He is our next president, there is no denying that. What the future will bring under a president Obama, there is a lot of denying and questions there. As a McCain supporter (only because be beat Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney), I'm going to spend a lot of time dodging the news on the TV. If the press loved him before, I can't imagine what will happen now. Will he have to get a restraining order against Chris Mathews because he wants another thrill up his leg? Most new presidents have a honeymoon, but a four year honeymoon?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://inconceivabletirades.blogspot.com/2008/11/all-hail-one-he-hath-ascended.html' title='All HAIL THE ONE! LIARS! BASTARDS!

No, I'm not mad. I am pissed beyond belief. There is a really good chance that this presidential race will come down to as tight as Bush/Kerry, if not more so. But if it is that close, McCain loses automatically. Why?! Here's why!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to STATSIndiana, In 2007, Indianapolis/Marion County had an estimated population of 876,804. Of that number 232,607 were below 18 years of age, for a total of 644,197 people in Marion County/Indianapolis 18 or over and thus eligible to vote. (Indiana allows felons to vote as long as they are not incarcerated).

So we have 644,197 people eligible to be registered in Marion County/Indianapolis, and 677,401 people registered. Congratulations go to Indianapolis for having 105% of its residents registered!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to Moonbattery.com for the tip.

This stuff has been the bread-n-butter of the democrats for decades, maybe longer. Anyone familiar with Chicago politics knows their saying, "Vote early, and vote often!" Lets not forget that Obama is from Chicago. Anyway, the democrats have now managed to turn voter fraud into a tax subsidized profession courtesy of and organization named ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). Apparently we know what they mean by reform. This organization started about 15 years ago with the laudable goal of getting people out to register and vote. Somewhere along the trail they started getting millions from politicians and the US Government and then it became a job of feathering their own nests. And the best people to support that will feather your nest are democrats.

They aren't satisfied with just owning the educational system, the media, and everything else. Now they are going to try and own the election process by registering tens of thousands of people who DON'T EXIST!!! At that point its a simple mater of trucking around some poor bums with no jobs, give them a few bucks and list of names, and go from poll to poll voting ALL DAMN DAY LONG!

105% of voters registered in freaking Indianapolis? Are you kidding me? I lived there for 18 years, voted every election, and never saw more than 40% turnout. Even if the statistics are off, voter registration nation wide averages more more than 75%, and turnout much lower. THIS IS FRAUD! And this group, ACORN, is paying millions to perpetrate it. They brag on their web site that they have registered 1.3 MILLION people to vote. Then they show a map that shows where they work. All over the country? Nope, only states that have been in play or possibly in play over the last four election cycles (with the exception of California).

Their offices in Nevada have been raided, their operatives have been jailed for fraud in the past, and they have an office in Indianapolis...hmmm. Here is the site Rotten Acorn that specializes in tracking their 'efforts' over the years.

What does all this mean? Besides pure nastiness it means I'm reaching the end of my tether, and if little old quiet me is beginning to turn red in the face, there have to be a few dozen million more that have already passed the boiling point.

Why is it always the losers and liberals (sorry, is there a difference?) that riots and protests when they lose? Besides a primary respect for law and order that conservatives have that liberals don't, its because conservatives are more optimistic and happy. We don't worry when we loose and election so much, we'll be back later. But this vile crap is a game changer. How can you honestly compete if the game is rigged to such an extant that competition is impossible? And even beyond the legions of phantom voters, every time the Democrats take over, the first thing they do is start entrenching themselves by gerrymandering voting districts, and probably the "fairness doctrine" this time.

I'm not advocating violence in any way (yet), but this can't stand. IT CAN NOT! Once the privilege of voting is minimized and neutralized by fraud and deceit, what rights do we have left? The primary underpinnings of our freedom are gone, destroyed, slaughtered. No taxation without representation. We fought a war over that a few hundred years ago. Mark my words, it might well happen again. Stick a thermometer up the ass of the nation and takes it's temperature. It's getting pretty hot in there.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://inconceivabletirades.blogspot.com/2008/10/fraud-liars-bastards.html' title='FRAUD! Don't even start with that crap, she is the governor of our largest state, a deadly political opponent, and smarter than 3/4 of the asshats in congress. So enough on that.

Anyway, for a laugh on the whole liberal 'progressive' (right, yeah) lifestyle, check this out;

They have a whole series of very biting commentary on the left called Diversity Lane. There is a fair amount of conservative humor out there, but much of it is less than creative, and more of biting. That of the mortgage issue. Billions upon billions for 'poor helpless home owners". There is a simple truth here;

If you borrow more than you can afford and go down in flames, tough shit.

When did our lives loose all responsibility? If your house gets trashed by a hurricane because you built along the pictorial Florida coast, the government fixes it. If your house is destroyed by a tornado because you chose to build in tornado alley, the government pays to fix it. And if you buy a house three times more than you can afford to pay for, then the government blames the lender and bails you out. WTF?!

For more than a century our federal government did MOSTLY what it was intended to do. It handled treaties with foreign nations, maintained a national defense, and made sure the states didn't blow the shit out of each other. Along comes the worst president in history, Abraham Lincoln. Separatists on both sides fractured our nation and this president in his wisdom spilled the blood of some 700,000 Americans. Not a civil war, by definition a war of independence. Put the slavery issue aside, it was only a sidebar in this war. The federal government had been becoming more and more heavy handed with the states and the southern states finally said; 'go to hell' and left the union. By the articles of our nations formation, they had the right. Lincoln didn't like the idea, and thousands died.

That was the beginning of the end for our republic. The states had been served notice. Do what the central government says, or we will use military force to pound you into submission. More and more nails have been driven into the coffin. The 17th amendment (passed by the crazy 'progressives') of 1919, the 1929 firearms act, the New Deal, the Great Society, trillions of unfunded federal mandates. Two hundred years ago we were a republic made up of the 'several states'. The states were a sort of quasi-nation unto itself, the federal government only ensuring that certain rights were maintained (bill of rights), and that they didn't attack each other. Religions, laws, taxes, etc varied widely from state to state. Never has this been less so now, the all powerful central government now consumes almost 1/5 of every dollar generated in our nation and runs roughshod over all our laws, elections, and proceedings. A lot of this can be blamed on two events. The civil war, and the 17th amendment that stripped the states of their last true power. That being the direct appointment of US Senators.

A lot of you don't realize that our central government was a lot more ingeniously created than you thought. Varied levels of protection were built in to our three branches of government. The judiciary (don't get me started), the executive, and the congress. The congress is the only branch that was segmented even further. The house of congress to be composed of representatives of districts within the state directly elected. The senate composed of two representatives from each state, to be appointed by that states own government. What? Are you serious? Yes, the founding fathers realized that the entities of states needed to be protected from the tyranny of the majority. Everyone loves democracy, except most of our founding fathers. They knew how dangerous a democracy was, which was why they created a constitutional republic. That republic is all but gone now. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the average moronic voter allowed to cast an uniformed vote through their xbox in a few years.

So here we are. The states are emasculated. People are no longer expected to demonstrate and individual responsibility. And the federal government is so far in debt that were it to seize every dollar made this year, it would only barely be able to retire the nearly $10 trillion dollar debt.

Just so you know, I do have a horse in this race. I own two houses, one in Indiana, one in Kentucky (which I live in). The house in Indiana has been empty on and off the last four years and more than once pushed us hard enough into debt that I became concerned. Never once has it entered into my mind that I must somehow seek relief from the federal government. I will not seek it, nor accept it if offered. We signed both mortgages with our eyes wide open. It is high time we stop subsidizing STUPIDITY! If a loan is given illegally to knowingly unqualified lenders, then punish the lender. But the person who took out the loan is at fault too. Sorry folks, but if your too stupid to read the paperwork and understand interest rates, points, balloon payments, your just too dumb to own a house. I recomend renting. But maybe you should have a friend read the lease for you. The government won't bail you out on that one...yet.

Financial Crisis - Through Different Eyes

Well, the financial market is in deep shit, and potentially the entire world's economy. At least say some. I don't know if I can swallow that. Is there some risk? Oh possibly, but this bailout insanity represents a clear risk, and furthers us toward and ultimate disaster that will be unavoidable. I'm talking about a crash in the US currency.

I'm 3/4 through with my 5th reading of Atlas Shrugged over the 30 years since I discovered this wonderful opus of Ayn Rand. Objectivism segways with my own libertarianism in so many ways it sometimes frightens me. Well, frightens might be a bit strong. For the 10 or so in the world who might read my blog and have never read any of Rand's work, she immigrated from the Soviet Union as a young woman and upon seeing how our society was 'progressing' realized we were in very real danger of going down that some road less traveled. She wrote Atlas Shrugged to tell the tale of a world where the men of the mind go on strike, as apposed to the blue collar strikes of our modern world. Imagine all the inventors, industrialists, true philosophers, and the rare neutral (unpolitical) jurists just leaving our society to wait for its collapse into self consuming anarchy. A compelling story. Ayn Rand is often wordy, to say the least. The key character, John Galt, at one point delivers a 60 page monologue. Yes, 60 pages.

So in reading this seminal work by Rand once more, I'm moved to realize just how far down the road of the Rotters and Looters we have gone. But I'm sure Rand would be amazed to see that these beasts of the oblivion have discovered another way to destroy our great society. Not through the taxing, confiscation and anti-business laws she imagined, but a much more insidious proposal.

Let me digress and discuss the current crisis. Through no fault of the majority, trillions of the money that drives the nations economy have been misdirected and outright stolen by greedy monsters. Don't get me wrong, greed is a good thing in and of itself. Someone who works to invent something that will put a competitor out of business is greedy, but in a true and natural way. In all the ways that matter to humans in the purest form, if he succeeds he benefits himself and mankind. Without that action, there is no technological competition, or improvement. Our evolution to the current age would not have been possible without this sort of behavior. But these politicians and monsters from Wallstreet are not exercising this basic nature, they are in essence looters. They have created no wealth, in fact in many cases they have perpetrated acts to strip away wealth others have made. This act produces nothing new, no new product, no benefit to himself other than pure material greed. They are monsters.

This extends to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac situation, but in worse ways. These entities were created by the federal government, democrats to be precise, for the sole (and admitted!) purpose of giving loans to people who could not afford them! How does this action make sense? It doesn't, but it sure helps get people to vote for your. People who live to 'help the under privileged' and people who get those loans.

After years of functioning, it became obvious that these two entities were in deep trouble. They'd ignored their already nearly non-existent rules and made horribly risky loans, called 'sub-prime' by many. Now many of those who worked for them are gone, and millions richer, while the companies fail. Tens of thousands of loans with billions are going to fail, and the government is going to step in to fix the whole problem.

Wallstreet trading companies are 'too big to fail'. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are 'too big to fail'. Auto manufacturers are 'too big to fail'. We used to deride foreign nations for funding their companies which were considered unfair competition to us (read Airbus). Now we're doing it. Rand was right, we're becoming more socialist by the day.

We have to save these companies (Wallstreet, Freddie and Fannie, etc), at least this is what they say. The costs ESTIMATED at $700 billion. No, I didn't make a mistake. That is nearly 3/4 of a TRILLION dollars. The total military budget for 2007 for $699 billion. This bailout will cost us as much as it takes to run the most powerful military in the world for a full year. The entire budget was only $1.7 trillion with another half trillion in off budget items. I don't want to get into the entire disgusting budget process at this point. That's another post. On to debt.

Our country is currently $9 trillion dollars in debt. There is no reason be believe that this bailout won't climb to a trillion. So in one fell swoop, we're going to vault over the $10 trillion dollar mark, especially after you add what we're going to run over budget for FY 2008.

So what you say? What does this have to do with Rand? What I say is this is the way Ayn Rand didn't consider. Destruction of the nation through debt. She never even touched on it in her book. The national debt was all but non-existent back then. Well, it sure is now. That debt itself is not a deadly thing, in fact it is arguable that our debt helps run the world economy. But what happens when your debt exceeds your overall income?

The US gbp (gross domestic product), the sum of all the money we make, is roughly $16.5 trillion. The world gdp is about $55 trillion. Yeah, we make about a 1/3 of the worlds money, and by far the largest over the EU (not one nation either) by 10%. Our founding fathers would be proud (on a note, the smallest is Kirbati at $67 million). But that debt thing? Yeah,
well, that debt is largely financed through letters of credit, also known as bonds. These bonds are bought by everyone, literally. People, businesses, states, even countries buy our bonds. We're the strongest, richest, power money rich nation on the world! Who wouldn't buy our bonds. The answer is someone who doesn't think its a good risk any more.

Our debt is going to top $10 trillion this year, more than half our gdp. Will this be the tipping point? That magical point when someone or some entity stops buying our paper? Probably not, but it is a HUGE leap in that direction. There has to be a point, there must be. It isn't possible to have a free economy and have endless debt. The results of being unable to sell our bonds is a melt down. Our only choice will be to wipe away debt, pretend it never existed. Our currency crashes, foreign markets nose dive, nations who lock their currency with the dollar follow us down the whole. In a few days the Japanese Yen is worth more than the dollar. Bye bye.

Atlas hasn't shrugged, he's just done the Hammer Throw.

This bailout is reckless beyond belief. I have a great deal of respect for those few republicans (lead by John McCain) who stormed into Washington and put the kibosh on this insane plan. Now they're talking about some kind of loan. Well, not what I'd like, but better, I guess. The end result if Washington does anything other than shrug in this mater is that we have lost our capitalist society. This is pure socialism. The government is rescuing these businesses for the social better. Think about this, is that the smartest thing? It's like a lion ignoring the weakest gazelle because the herd would feel bad about it. When you encourage bad behavior, you get more of it. "Let's do whatever we want in business! We're huge, the government will have to rescue us if we screw up!"

This is a slippery slope we ride. I'm no fan of John McCain in many things, but I sure hope he's got traction control and 4x4 if he's taking this path.

ALL HAIL THE ONE!

Well, Obama is 'the one', meaning the DNC pick and an almost religious messiah figure. I watched his acceptance speech, flipping between the major networks, and watched the responses between mixed reviews and borderline orgasm (guess where that one was).

Personally I find it disgusting. This man's mere candidacy has become an affront to the 53 presidents before him. He is nothing, inexperienced, unworldly, unintelligible (off a teleprompter), and a dangerous polyanic with delusions of grandeur. In that speech he promised to solve every issue you can imagine. I'm surprised he didn't offer to come over and get rid of a wart that had been bothering me.

In the days of old politicians used to be sneered at for offering 'a chicken in every pot'. Obama offered the chicken, a pot, a stove, and a house to put it all in. Check out the laundry list.

1) national health care (can you say bankrupt economy?)
2) working wage (read $25 hr minimum wage boys)
3) sex normalled wages (women and men paid the same. How are they going to enforce that one?)
4) end our dependence on foreign oil. (guess he's going to invent fusion power all by himself!)
5) retool our auto plants to be uber high tech and green to boot!
6) free and universal education! (guess he's going to nationalize all universities)
7) end the war in Iraq (no surprise there, he's been for surrender before the fight started)
8) escalate the war in Afghanistan (oookay)

And these are only the eight I could remember of the top of my head! I won't even get into how he gave McCain a little nod, then proceeded to rip him a new asshole for 40 minutes. Congradulations are in order. This character has succeeded in one fell swoop to lower the bar for the presidency nearly to the floor, and to also turn a nomination acceptance speech into a free attack ad. I shudder to wonder what McCain's acceptance will be like. Will he rise above this vitriolic mudslinging Obama has started, or turn the other cheek and in essence make himself look weak and vulnerable.

Make to mistake about it, this is going to be a fight to remember. I never was for McCain, he's okay in some ways, and horrible in others. But this character, Obama, is even worse than Clinton. He's got charisma Billy Bob could only dream about. Whenever a completely unqualified person runs for high office purely on his ability to give a speech and pick powerful backers rises to power, the shit hits the fan. EVERY TIME.

Hang on, its going to be an interesting eight weeks.

The New Inquisition

I spent a couple of hours listening to global warming propaganda today and finally had to stop before my brain melted down. The drum beat that proceeds daily is as unrelenting as anything I have seen in my life. I doubt the propaganda against the Axis during WWII was as concerted and carefully planned as this. You literally can't open a news paper, go to a news website, or watch a broadcast without someone telling you 'the sky is falling'. If it isn't straight up MMGW rhetoric, then it's GREEN, GREEN, GREEN. I'm going to puke until my anus comes out my mouth. I watched a segment on ABC streaming video showing how a woman has her dogs going green. WTF?! I saw another segment that said even owning pets adds to the 'problem'. Every aspect of our lives are being blamed from the cars we drive, the jobs we work, to the houses we live in. The only thing you don't hear about is the opposition. The thirty-one thousand plus scientists, PhD, climatologists, and meteorologists who are now finally coming with a 'not so quick there sport' concerning MMGW.
But what does it matter? The more I watch this, the more I wonder how long before the first high priests of the inquisition are named? Are they warming up the hot pokers and other implements of fun? You aren't allowed to even question that what is happening is our fault. To do so brings down the wrath of the true believers. Those the live 'green'. The self righteous. The Prius drivers. Think I'm exaggerating? In California, home of the loony left, they are considering making it mandatory that a house has an RF device installed that will allow officials to turn your thermostat up/down by five degrees when ever it is deemed 'necessary' for the common good. There is no doubt about it, we're in deep shit. I honestly think before long doubting MMGW will be labeled a hate crime, against momma earth, I'm sure.
Most trends have a swing of the pendulum, first one way then the other. What about this one? It's hard to imagine a more drastic back swing than if we do have a new Maunder Minimum in the making, and next winter is worst in recorded history. What will the high preist of MMGW, Algore, have to say then? Will it too be blamed on climate change? Will self righteous assholes point to that moronic movie "The Day after Tomorrow", also known as science takes a holiday, and say AH-HA! Or will the average man finally start looking at the science of this whole thing and go, WTF?

Just for fun, based on the last post!

This is from Wordle, and is based on my globul warming post, enjoy!

GLOBAL WARMING?!

Okay lugnuts, I promised so here it is.

GLOBAL WARMING!! Bullshit.

I could argue for hours on this dead dog. The simple truth is if you believe it, likely your a member of the church of global warming, lead by high priest Algore himself. I do have a question or two for you though;
1) How is it that a gas representing less than 2000th of 1 percent of the atmosphere can have such a profound change in the planetary temperature? Current tests show about 380 ppm (parts per million) concentration of co2 in the atmosphere. Get your calculators out kiddies and follow along, 380/1,000,000=0.00038. That's right, 0.038% of the atmosphere is co2. This is up from about 1800 where it was 280ppm, an increase of 100ppm or about 40%. Sounds like a lot? Well, 280ppm is about like five chipmunks farting in the superdome. Since 1800 two more chipmunks have farted. OH MY GOD, RUN FOR THE HILLS! DESTROY ALL CARS! SHUT DOWN ALL INDUSTRY! TURN OVER THE CONTROL OF SOCIETY TO ALGORE. Tongue in cheek there kiddies, well except for the last part.
2) If we even consider accepting your jacked up premise that a change in the atmosphere of 0.0001 in a single odorless, colorless gas can cause a 0.7 Celsius change in the global mean temperature (remember that figure kiddies, there is a test later), a why is it that the temperature change has led the o02 increase, not the opposite? Seems the temperature has gone up years in advance of the increase of co2. Hmmm.
3) Since water vapor is more than 100 times more effective as a so called 'green house gas', why has it failed to produce a similar increase since water vapor levels have increased in the upper atmosphere by 75%! Shouldn't that have cause several degrees of warming more than the factional increase from CO2?
4) Finally, why do most global warming cultists close their eyes, cover their ears, and go 'nya-nya-nya'! at the top of their lungs when you mention sunspots?!

Yeah, see there is the rub. For years the global warming ninnies have been screaming that it's man causing it (ignore the global climate cycle of ice age every 10,000 years, that we're overdo for), but completely disregard things like the medieval warming, little ice age, etc. You want to know what links up the best with our global climate (hot, cold, etc)?!?!? SUN SPOTS, assholes (little homage to George Carlin there, RIP). When you slap down the history of sunspots next to the global record of hot/cold, you get a chilling correlation (pardon the pun). They really hate it when you mention the Maunder Minimum. A most inconvenient time from 1750-1800 where there was no sunspots, and we got us a little ice age. OOps.

Well, we're followers of the church of global warming, so faith can carry us through. (Hallowed be thy name, our forged scientific data and Algore shall comfort us!) After all, there is not definite proof of those two events being linked, right? Well, you're right, of course.

Say hello to my little friend, proof;

TADA!

Please read it carefully, it might damage your faith in that church...you might even catch a note about DECREASE in global temperatures. But, but, but, how?

No sunspots, boys and girls, for more than a year. Quite a bit more if you consider we're supposed to be heading up into the next solar maximum, that little eleven year cycle of solar activity. Every eleven years we go from lots of solar sunspots, to almost none, and back up again. Last couple years were real scorchers with record numbers of sunspots. Scientists had to change their panties in expectation of this next maximum. They expected unprecedented shows, launched new satellites, and made sure the SOHO observatory was ready. The problem? Nothing happened. The minimum was more than a year ago. They expected sunspots by now at the rate of dozens a day. All we've seen are a few late shows from last year (they can tell somehow what cycle a sunspot is from). There is one little one now, other than that, the sun is dead as a doornail.

Dead Sun

This is a good one. "sunspot watchers are getting antsy" No shit? Notice the date on this article. More than a month, and still jack shit.

Compare that to this;

Sun? What sun?

Huh, 2004, global warming 'out of control', record sunspots, 2008, no sunspots, globe cooling off. Quick, call Algore, the FEVER HAS BROKEN!!!

There were hints at the end of the last cycle, something strange was going on...

Houston, we have a problem...

But we're way too busy trying to cool the planet off to worry about SCIENCE! What happened to fact checking, analysis, and more fact checking? Forget about that, there's big money to be made scaring the shit out of people.

I believe most scientists knew the jig was up a couple years ago. Have you noticed they don't mention global warming as much? Now it's all about CLIMATE CHANGE! Oh my GOD! Even better, you can blame EVERYTHING on climate change. Too hot, too cold, no rain, no snow, too much rain, too much...you get the idea. Only problem is, these pesky sunspots. Don't you hate it when hard facts slap you in the face like a pissed off whore? So what to do? Simple, don't talk about it. Look for articles, and good luck to you. It took me a couple weeks of spare time searching to put together a good look at this picture, and I don't like what I see.

Who likes winter? We all do, right? You like it so much that you want a month of summer, then back to winter? That's what happened during the Maunder Minimum. Ouch. We're gonna have a lot of Canadians camping in Georgia for a few decades, we better start stalking up on beer.

This is my current main site - SOHO SATELITE my browser opens to it every morning. Remember that first one I showed you, where they mentioned the 0.7C drop in temperature? Supposedly global warming caused 0.7c temperature increase in the last century. A lack of sunspots for one year reversed it. Global temps were 10c colder during the maunder minimum, that's about 18 degrees boys and girls. In Kentucky where I live, summer averages about 91, winter about 21. Change that to high of 73 in summer, 3 in winter. I don't know how many of you have gardens, but guess how many things grow well with a one month growing season and temperatures in the seventies? We're back to jack shit again.

Well, they'll keep it quiet as long as they can. I'll pray to wake up one morning to even a couple sunspots, but at this point? Don't think they'll keep it quiet? Go to yahoo.com and click on the news tab, now type in sunspots. Yeah, you see?

You get (Cliff has been a MMGW for a while, bless his heart). Two years since anything, more than a year since we were supposed to enter the new cycle. Not a single major press story, or minor for that matter. (BTW, a gem from cliff was My Man Cliff awesome story).

Nothing on CNN.
Nothing on ABC News
Nothing on CBS News (mention of expected peak from 2007, that's it)
Nothing on NBC or MSNBC except a blub from a year ago about the First Sunspot of the new Cycle! Turns out that was wrong...
You can't really blame them, they're busy trying to get Obama elected...

What about our only hope, Fox News? Ahhh, here we go!
Fox Comes Through, sort of...

It's a few weeks old, and is mainly of the sort 'don't worry, nothing to see here' that you see just before it blows up in your face, but it is the ONLY ARTICLE BY ANY NEWS AGENCY! This is fucking pathetic! If the global temp suddenly spiked by .7C, it would be all we heard about 24/7, even from Fox!

So, what is in the weeks to come? I guess we'll hold our breaths, and see. Regardless, global warming is gone for now, lets see what the future brings...

Funny? McCain's lack of blackness, and McCain's lack of youth. And it is taking much less time than I would expect for the guns to be warmed up. Witness today's Bloomberg article by Lorrain Woellert, available on yahoo;
http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20080619/pl_bloomberg/atptdqenc5r0;_ylt=Apz4n5E3JTtVGc7aJjPdNpbCw5R4

On its surface the article simple discuses how McCain's energy policy would operate, including the laudable goal to build another 100 nuclear plants. I must stand up and cheer as a SENSIBLE environmentalist and global warming skeptic, I've been yelling NUCLEAR POWER at the top of my lungs for years. But of course the nuclear knee-jerk crowd go cross-eyed and scream bloody murder every time the see the only truly green alternative power.
Anyway, Ms. Woellert's article points to several elements of candidate McCain's plan, and then opines the following;

"McCain, an Arizona senator, also vowed to spend $2 billion on research into clean-burning coal.
``This single achievement will open vast amounts of our oldest and most abundant resource,'' McCain, 71, said. ``It will deliver not only electricity but jobs to some of the areas hardest hit by our economic troubles. "

No where else in the article is any mention made of age, especially not the over-youthfulness (IMHO) of the democratic opponent. This is subtle but obvious ageism at work. Mark my words, it will be a lot less subtle as time goes by. You never saw a mention of President Bush's age in nearly every article leading up to the '04 election, nor of his opponent John Kerry. Why now? Is it fundamentally necessary that we be spoon fed lines to burn John McCain's age into our brain like the flashbulb image of a nuclear blast. Are certain people hoping we'll walk into the polls and look up at the candidates then see an afterimage next to both names; McCain - Old / Obama - Young. Distasteful, transparent, and pathetic. Shame on you, Ms. Woellert.

But this is just a warm up. Here we go, boys and girls, let the games (and subtle smears) begin.

Government is Force

When a society matures it tends to take on an ever increasing amount of 'responsibilty' for its citizenry. It is an unfortunate truth that most people consider this a good thing. You don't have to scrutinize the food in a box you buy in the store, just open and gobble without a second thought! After all, the government makes sure it is safe and nutritious (well, at least safe). And if polluted food from China kills a few people? No problem, Uncle Sugar will make it all better. How many people can even recognize that their food might not be 'good' anymore? What is that smell? Does this taste funny to you? What are those blue flecks in this chili? I sat next to a woman in a fancy restaraunt last week when she commented that it tasted "very funny" to her partner. After a moment she shrugged and gobbled it down. I doubt even our parents (I'm speaking to my fellow boomers here, you Gen-x types are on your own) would have done that. Spoiled or poorly preserved food were a common thing then. Of course then you just tossed it out and made more. These days its more complicated, involving a call to a lawyer, or at least the obligatory new media press conference. The truly scary part is we not only expect perfect and safe food with every bite, we demand it.
This mindset goes across the spectrum of products and services in the US, and most of the western world for that mater. Is it a good thing? I have mixed reservations. But of course if my tuna sandwich has a strong metallic taste, I'll send it back to the kitchen (I've checked the news for announcements of poisoned patrons in Palisades NY, nothing yet). We do enjoy a period of unprecedented consumer confidence. Oh, we're not sure of the economy, but we know that the new $4,000 big screen TV we just bought will work, at least for a year or so. Yes, that is a new 42" Samsung LCD in my living room, and I researched the purchase for a week before deciding on this modest choice. More than one guy in the checkout line gave it a self-satisfied sneer, no doubt thinking about their 52" model at home. I just smiled back because I paid cash for my TV. How many of them can say that?
Anyway, the issue if our nanny-state. So far who can argue at this wonderful safe world? Oh, there are a few who try to look through the crystal ball and see us strapping on government mandated bath helmets before climbing into the water with temperature careful controlled by government approved temperature controled water system delivered by government treated and purified water from government guaranteed watersheds. I scoff, like this could really happen? Wait a second...
Anyway, what can really come from this? Is there a possibility the goverment might get a little high handed in their protection of their 'constinuants'? No shit, you think? How about this one?

http://www.reason.com/news/show/126710.html

I'm sure a lot of you watched as the Texas CPS swooped in and snatched the kids from those whakos. Religous nuts! I'm sure you thought; "good thing before they did another Branch Dividian and killed themselves!" (more on that one some other time). Well, read the story above. Oops, turns out those 'religous nuts' were not considerate enough for the high handed government goons, they didn't bother actually breaking any laws or hurting those kids. Damn it, you need to cooperate and break some laws so we can 'help your kids' here! So now those kids, who all turned out to be happy, healthy, and a lot better educated that most of our screwed up brats, are actually screwed up by the morons who went to help them. Yep, big surprise. We went to help them, and screwed them up in the process. Many of those kids are going to bear emotional scars for the rest of their lives. Texas is going to end up writing some checks for this one, and for a change I agree. They had no damn right to do that. Cases like this need to be taken on a case-by-case basis. Swooping in and abducting a hundred or so kids from a religous retreat just because a few people don't like or understand the way those people live is not a 'civilized' thing to do. In our great American experiment we are now in the 'knee jerk reaction' phase of our growth. In the early days the state just ignored everything the people did until it drew a body count. Later the goverment would react, usually slowly and often innapropriately. Now in the modern info-age, the reaction is almost always expensive, too extensive, and usually innefectual. But why are we surprised from government? Like the subject line says, 'government is force'. I can't place the quote, but it's true. You don't pay your taxes or stop at stop lights because you are overwhelmed with feelings of altruistic love of your fellow man. You obey the laws because if you don't the government thugs will show up with guns and take you to jail, break up your family, and confiscate your wealth. Fear makes you obey, fear of goverment force.
One more thing. This whole incident with the kids was mainly triggered because the government has been watching that clutch of religously zealous followers with a microscope. Why? Well if you read the story or watched any TV you know they're a splinter group of the LDS, the ones that beleive in polygamy. In modern America, sodomy is perfectly okay, but don't you dare try and have more than one wife. Hell, in the Seattle area (unfortunately where I grew up), there is no law against raping an animal, but there is against having more than one wife. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an advocate. One is quite enough for me. But I have to ask the question, why is one formerly moraly reprehensible behavior now 'normal', but another not? It seems the love that dare not speak its name, now the love that won't shut the hell up, has some questions to answer....

Bread and Circus

The Democratic convention in Denver is liable to be one of the wildest shows seen in quite a long time. The left are beginning to eat their own after their annointed few (Dem congress 06') failing to;

1) impeach President Bush (snort)

2) surrender in Iraq

3) tax and spend us into oblivion

Well, the Republicans are helping on part of #3, but still not executed as demanded.

You ever seen a bee hive or ant hill when disturbed? That scene best descibes the left in this election season. You can tell when they are so freaked out they can't see straight, they actually forget to insult a conservative in every sentance. It may well have been at least a month since I've seen the press gleefully reporting on a conservative being called a Nazi by some prominent democrat. The dems are in a feeding frenzy, and blood is in the water.

Need an example?

http://www.recreate68.org/album1_dnc_005.htm

Many of the radical left consider Obama's win a betrayal. Blacks are good for votes, not to be voted for! Oh, places like Georgia or Alabama will elect a few every now and then, but president?! Everyone knows Hillary has been picked at the presumptive nominee. Rush Limbaugh's caustive buy pointed "Obama the Magic Negro" radio play has the bite of audacity, but also a ring of truth. You won't hear anyone in the media say it, but its really Republicans who want a color blind society. I could care less the color of the skin of a leader I vote for, as long as he represents my interests. President Bush has appointed more women and minorities than any other president in history. But still we need Hillary or even better, Obama to save us and give America "credibility". Bullshit.

Will America have a black president? Who would be stupid enough to even as that question? Of course we will. And the first time the nominee is a conservative (and hopefully liberatarian to boot), I'll be waving the flag and sending checks. Any American who would vote for Obama just because he had ancestors from an African nation is little better than David Duke, Strom Thurmond, Robert Byrd, and you should be embarassed with yourself.

This election holds a real fascination for me. This is one of those rare 'open' presidential elections. Not only is the sitting president precluded from running due to term limitatation, but there was no presumptive 'heir' to his presidency. This role is often filled by a VP after a two term president (see George Bush the elder, Algore, etc). Cheney said from the beginning he wasn't interested in being president. In part that is too bad. His Vader like visage would be fun to watch against the slick Edwards like brooks-brothers personae of Obama. Hillary had that level of certainty until Obama and Rush Limbaugh overturned the applecart. Don't know about that? Look into 'operation chaos' by el-rushbo. http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_031208/content/01125108.guest.html

Rush had the genius to realize that the longer the Democrats attack each other, the better off conservatives will be. Who knows how effective he was, but look at the carnage and decide for yourself.

So beyond these facts, there is also the final candidates themselves. When you close your eyes and think about it, how is this even a race to consider? We are presented with two choices; a decorated war hero, former prisoner of war, acknowledged 'outsider' who has operated within the structure of DC for decades whilst getting results and causing minimal damage to our civil liberties and still killing badguys, or a first term senator from a noted corrupt political city with nearly no experience in governement and barely enough years of life to qualify for the job. Fascinating. We're in the struggle of our age against islamo fascists, and one of the candidates is an acknowledged dove. Beyond that he has bragged that he'd invite every third world tin pot dictator over for brunch at the Whitehouse. WTF? America has NEVER talked to these sort of bottom dwelling, scum suckers. We let other more useless nominal democracies (see France, Italy, most of europe) initiate those contacts and get some concession towards civilization before continuing. Everyone knows when you land in DC and chat with the Prez, "you're somebody to be taken seriously". He's going to have tea and crumpets with Ahmadinejad (or as Dennis Miller calls him, Aquavelvajad) just like that?! One tries to look back through the lense of time and imagine FDR popping over to Berlin for some struedel with AH. Don't like that comparison? You haven't been reading what Ahmadinejad had been writing. American presidents don't chat with dictators, we blow them to hell and/or accept their surrender.

Fascinating election season. History has been made and will continue to be made. Part of me wishes Obama wasn't such an empty suit so I could vote for him. With an eye towards the liberals 'need' to make firsts such a big deal, it might have been worth getting that one out of the way. I don't worry about what Obama might do as president, it's not like he's really said anything other than the whole dictator thing. All he's offered is hope and change. Rrrright. I don't hope for change, I hope for survival. I hope Americans have enough common sense to look and listen in the coming debates. Obama is all posing, McCain is poise. Obama is hope and change, McCain is leadership. It goes beyond the whole 'military experience as CIC' debate. Besides, it's one that really won't come up since its laughable on the dems side this season (I think we've had enough real life lesson at just how dangerous a persident is with no experience in military matters). This debate goes to the core of what a person is, what they have accomplished, what you can expect of them, and what they have done in life. Or in the case of Obama, what you haven't accomplished. He hasn't been behind one important piece of legislation, and aside from a no vote on the use of force in Iraq he hasn't stood up for one cause. That last item is the straw that broke this camel'l back, no pun in tended.

Out of Control

Been gone too long, sorry to my fan out there.

So now we're down to two. Two candidates, two philosophies, two parties, two asshats.

I wouldn't be happy voting for either of these douchebags, and neither are most people. Oh, don't get me wrong, the Obamination has millions of followers, but so did Hitler, Jim Jones, and Chairman Mao. I list them because they (like Obama), are all charismatic douchebags that eventually ended up costing the lives of millions of their own faithful. And have no doubt about it, Obama will do the same. By even HINTING that you will talk with murderers and despots, you empower, embolden, and codify their religion of opression. I'm in the Regan/Bush/Dr. Savage camp on this. The only way to deal with terrorists is to kill them every time you find them, and just for good measures you kill everyone that was hiding and supporting them.

Make no qualms here, if we're going to kick terrorism in the nuts, we're gonna get dirty on this. The only other choice is to by a quaran, a prayer rug, and practice kneeling. These guys don't want us to go away, they're out for the big win. Islam is indeed a religion of peace. You will be at peace with their ruling you, or you will know the peace of the grave. They are just about the least cuddly, least inclusive, least civilized (in the modern liberal sense) religion on the face of the planet. They do not play well with others. As many great men have said, we can't fix Islam, it has to fix itself. All we can do is destroy it. If they give us no choice, that will happen. Americans have been very whimpy over the last eight years, but you still see hints of a backbone. I have no doubt that the moonbats will be shoved into the basement should a nuke go off in the United States. They came come out and protest after all the bad guys are dead. That is what they're best at, right?

Oh, and McCain? He's a douchebag too, but at least he'll kill terrorists. He'll also let another 50 million illegals in and jack up the economy. But I can live with that, I doubt I will survive an Obama presidency. I'll pull "R" again. Like I have a choice? I won't make the same mistake I made with Clinton.

BTW - FUCK YOU HILLARY, now go away.

Politics as Usual

I've been quiet too long, but sometimes it takes time to think of what to say. Or perhaps a bitter political defeat?

Don't fool yourself, if your one of the meley mouth liberals I know. The democrats prevailing in October has nothing to do with Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, or the war on Terror. It had everything to do with the Republicans being lying, cheating, scheming, sons of a bitches. They betrayed the millions of non-aligned conservatives like myself (conservative, libertarian, objectivism, thank you very much) who helped put them in office back during the Republican revolution of 94. We have them twelve years to get their shit together and make some meaningful reforms. And what did we get for our blood and treasure? A half dozen minor tax cuts, a couple wars, and one assault weapons ban not renewed. Thanks for the later the most, the former somewhat, and the middle sorta. Let me take them one at a time.

Tax cuts - always a good thing, except when they 're executed the way these were. We got to pay a little less taxes, in exchange for almost 300 more pages of federal code. Thanks for nothing. The CFR (code of federal regulations) the encompass the tax codes of the US Government now number so many pages that the average man can not lift it without mechanical assistance. Any more work put in on this political dinosaur will only increase its wobbly girth. Euthanasia is the only solution. As painful as it will be, a high caliber round between the eyes and a resurrection of fair taxes is the only solution. Fair Tax? Sure. Flat Tax? Okay. VAT? Don't even think about it. The simple fact is that not only is this reform necessary, but it is inevitable. Not even the average welfare recipient can do his own taxes any more. The only ones benefiting are the tax accountants and the politicians feeding the beast. Kill it, and start over. JUST FUCKING DO IT!

Two wars - Really one war, people argue, but Iraq and Afghanistan are two very different critters. Afghanistan was the only Alquaeda ran terrorist country out there and we wiped them out with a weekend of bombing and some target practice for the spec force types. Iraq was less obviously linked to the terror issue. I have no doubt they were linked, but the Bush admin made a mistake by trying to make them one and the same. He should have just kicked it over and backed away just because it needed to be done. Kill Hussein (this still might happen, if the Iraqis have the balls) and his kids and close associates, then see what develops. Bomb again and repeat as necessary. It's worked before and will again. More wars are coming. We are either going to keep chasing these unthinkable bastards all over the planet and killing them and their allies every chance we get, or they will just huddle down and come at us every 5 years or so. I don't like the idea of a nearly perpetual war, but I like the idea of a hundred thousand dead Americans and a half million with radiation poisoning even less. Think 9/11 hurt us? You have no idea what your talking about. Just try to imagine even a medium sized city (500,000-900,000 people) hit in its heart around noon by even a 1 kiloton warhead. Twenty to thirty thousand dead in a millisecond, another forty thousand by the end of the week. Another ten or twenty by the end of the month, and hundreds of thousands with red level lifetime doses of radiation. Untold thousands of cases of cancer in the future. Lets take a second to consider the loss of tourist dollars and trade. The FAA grounded planes for half a week from 9/11, what do you think will happen from a nuke detonation? The national guard will seal off out major interstate connections for three states on all sides, possibly national. Show your papers to proceed. First we'll sweep your car with radiological scanners. This scenario is an instant recession worse than the 80's. No amount of tax cuts will pull this one through. The only industries making money will be gun manufacturers and retailers selling survival supplies. (don't come knocking on my door, I have plenty of both the former and the latter).

Assault weapons ban - Lets forget first of all the bullshit phrase of assault weapons. An assault weapon is by definition a weapon capable of selective fire (semi-auto and full auto). These have been STRICTLY controlled by the federal government since the 50's. You have to have a Class III FFL (federal firearms license) to even own them. And there are only a few thousand in the country ($500 per year just to renew your license). 90% of the fully auto weapons in the nation (other than military) are owned by active police officers, most of the remainder are in the hands of collectors with dozens of weapons. There are a select few average people with automatic weapons, but even they tend to be ex-military, ex-police. Last year there were 0, that's right Zero, incidents of an FFL owner committing a crime with one of his highly controlled weapons. So, that aside, what was the assault weapons ban? It was a defacto attempt to begin getting rid of defensive arms. Any gun that scared a liberal like Nancy Peloci was banned. Military look alikes preferred by red-necks and 'gun nuts'. They resembled military arms like the m-16 or the venerable AK-47, but only resembled. They were single shot only and in the case of the AK-47 would require considerable mechanical knowledge and skill to convert to fully automatic (mere possession of the conversion parts is a federal offense sans that much maligned class III FFL). The M-16 is another story, but that's because the AR-15 (cousin of the M-16), is essentially the same weapon. Models commonly available from the 80's could be converted in as little as a few minutes. They wouldn't be selective fire, but permanently full auto (pull the trigger, and bullets start to fly). But personally, I find the .223 (5.56mm ball ammo the AR-15 and M-16 fire) to be entirely inadequate. All this besides, the fact that these weapons are so deadly is simply a media created lie of immense proportions. You want deadly? How about one of the most deadly bullets around? Try the good old .308 Winchester. This nearly century old round has such phenomenal ballistics that it is the preferred round of the US Marine Corps snipers, and others around the world. This round is most often fired from a single shot bolt action rifle, and in the hollow point variety it'll put a .3 inch hole going into your tummy, and take out a hunk of your guts the size of a basketball on leaving. But the average hunting rifle doesn't scare liberals. Well, it probably does, but a lot of moderate democrats vote and the liberal politicians have to have their years 'dress up like a hunter and shoot something' photo op or risk loosing their money and support. The truth is simple, too simple for liberals to grasp. Gun bans and laws don't work. How come every place in the US with the fewest requirements is the safest? Because criminals fear an armed citizen. Not the cops, they come in big cars with lights and sirens. They yell warnings and are bound by law and the ACLU to coddle criminals. No, a private citizen finds you in his house trying to rape his daughter, your more than likely dead. Sorry old man, completely forgot that Miranda right. Catch you around next time. Take a look at Great Briton if you want a good look at gun control at its best. The only way to own a firearm is to have it locked up at a gun club. Last year violent break ins, robberies, and assaults were up something like 40%. Worse, use a weapon to defend yourself and go to jail. And the crook will sue you and take away your house. The message is clear, the state is your mum, and your dad, and ultimately your doom.

Politics is a wonderful thing. Enjoy yourselves, my find liberal democrat friends, because if you stay on your typical course you won't be there for long. Raise our taxes, retreat from the war on terror, and start to ban guns again. But remember this, when the economy goes to shit, we're blaming you. When crime skyrockets in formerly safe towns and cities, we're holding you to account. And if a mushroom cloud blooms over a US city, we're coming to get you.

DRUGS!

My libertarian side rears its ugly head big time whenever this subject pops up. If there is any subject that more draws the differences between the two main parties and the libertarians in more stark relief it has to be druge. But I'm not entirely sold on the purely libertarian point of view.

Democrat point of view - We're not sure drugs should be legal. We'll all for any anti social behavior (of which being a homeless drug adict of crack whore is one) and be feel you should be able to do anything with your body, however our uncontrollable need to make everyone unhappy and share our hatred of America puts us in conflict. If we legalize drugs that will make people happy, and being a Democrat (and liberal) is not about being happy, it's about being pissed all the time and screaming at people.

Republican point of view - The use of drugs is an abuse of your body, and is not 'moraly right', so this is bad. There is also some belief that it is forbidden by God, and that is even worse. We can't reconcile that God made all plants and animals for us to use, but whatever. Getting drunk and slapping around the wife and kids is okay, but toking up a doobie and passing out over a bowl of cheetos is bad.

Libertarian point of view - Amsterdam in the Netherlands has good a good idea. but they're way too conservative! Now if there were vending machines with crack, pot, acid and condoms in the elementary schools, you'd be more on track. Just a minute, I need to reload my bowl.

This is really a lot simpler than it looks. We're practicing a sort of moral relatvism. By picking and chosing what sort of 'sin' we allow, we're making fools of ourselves. Beer and tobaco, go for it. Smoke a joint, or do a little acid and you go to jail. There really is no difference. For a time alcohol was treated just like marijuana is now, with nearly identical results. Crime jumped around cities, there was rampant and uncontrollable smuggling, thousands went to jail and hundred died who were guilty of doing nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

All you have to do is look at the alarming stats. Two out of five prisoners in many states are in jail for drug related crimes, the majority of them for non-violent crimes (minor possession being the most common). I'm not just talking about legalizing something to take away the crime, I'm talking about leveling the moral playing field. As a society fairness needs to be considered. You cannot have one social drig legal, and another not. I'm not suggesting making herion and crack legal, or any other known dangrous drugs. But we have to be realistic here. Tobaco and alcohol both have KNOWN and SIGNIFICANT health risks. How can we justify alowing them, and not marijuana, ectsasy, and a few other relatively safe drugs. As a society you have a clear choice. Allow some of these drugs for those who chose to excecise their FREEDOM in this way, and not the ones that are outright dangerous. Or allow none at all. Arguments can be make that they all should be illegal, and I can see many of them. But can you see the results of trying this approach? Do we go back down the prohibition road? I can see this coming for tobacco. Good luck with that one boys. If you can't stop drugs, how in the hell do you expect to stop cigaretes?

I'm forced to categorize the war on drugs and our societal love affair with making the less sexy ones illegal as nothing more than an excercise in elitism. They are an attempt to swell the roles of the law breakers. How else can a government have power, if there aren't people to put in jail? Try to go through a day in your life without breaking a law, and good luck with that. Smoking a joint is one or a few people trying to get pleasure. It's often a social thing for some. Do people go insane and lose themselves in pot? Sure, and they do with booze too. When a society cherry picks its approved vises, it has no legitemate leg to stand on.

Oh, and I believe this extends to prostitution as well. It's his or her body, deciding to give it away after dinner and drinks is no different than for a credit card authorization. So have a drink, light a joint, and go buy some really good sex. Chew it over.

Sic Semper Tyrannis!

The Left's War on War

Another blow has been struck for freedom. A federal judge has struck down as 'unconstitutional' a federal so called no-knock wiretapping program.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060817/ap_on_go_pr_wh/warrantless_surveillance

Isn't that just wonderful? Except the premise and story is chocked full of bullshit. First off there was no 'wiretapping'. To do this you need to intercept the line of a citizen, insert a recording/monitoring device, and record the calls. What was happening was a form of data mining. The feds were monitoring incoming calls from known terrorists to people in the US. If there was reason to suspect anything then a warrant was requested and a proper wiretap was performed. Second, as these calls originate outside the US there is no 'constitutional protection' provided. This is the same situation if someone from say Iceland was transmitting treasonous messages into the US, or may child pronography. While it might be illegal to do this in there country, you can't go and prosecute someone in the US for watching it! Or for that matter go off and try to get the guy sending it. Foreign originating calls are free game.

The root of all of this comes from the typical self loathing hatred of America that so many liberals of the ilk that have taken over the ACLU seem to demostrate on an almost daily basis. If these people had been around during WWII we'd all be having wienerschnitzel for lunch. Think I'm kidding? Recently the New York Times has been on a rampage, publishing every state secret concerning anti terrorist programs they can come across hoping that one of them will so outrage the people that they will vote for one less Republican in November (remember boys and girls, I'm a Libertarian, so don't even start with me). Not only would this not have been tolerated during WWII, but it wouldn't have been done! Several reporters discovered the nature of the Manhattan Project (the project to develope Nuclear Weapons during WWII) before it was completed. They didn't have to be threatened or intimadated. THEY KEPT THEIR DAMNED MOUTHS SHUT! Actions like those of the New York Times demonstrates much more than lack of discretion, it demonstrates that they care more for any personal/political vendetta or selling papers than they do for the fait of our nation. Should a terrorist succeed in an attack now and state they did so because of information so kindly provided by the NY Times, what do you suppose will be their response?

So far has gone the need to be a dove in our society, that the need to remove any kind or positive reference from war in our society is rapidly advancing on all fronts, often led by the aformentioned ACLU. Just read this story on VJ Day (Victor in Japan).

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060813/ap_on_re_us/victory_day_1

As few as twenty years ago VJ Day was celebrated in almost all towns and cities of our country. A victory for America was something to be proud of. Is it a celebration of the killing of the enemy? Not really, it is a celebration of our VICTORY OVER EVIL! Liberals blind themselves to the fact that evil even exists. Don't fool yourself, it does. They make statements of the negative trauma or stigma for the Japanese as the results of these celebrations. Most Japanese are very sorry for what happened in WWII (as a nation, they should be). The fact that these celebrations might appear mean spirited to the Japanese is no reason to cease them. Our need to celebrate our national successes far outweighs any need to be 'policitally correct'. Just watch the TV lately and see all the second guessing, hand wringing that goes on in any documentary about the end of WWII and the dropping of two nuclear weapons on Japan. Thousands died that day, but millions were probably spared.

So now another war is underway. Probably the third world war. Like it or not, we're in this one for the long haul. Islamic Fascists are probably a bigger threat than the Nazis or the Communists ever were. Becoming a Nazi or Commie wasn't a quiet thing that grew like a disease. Islam isn't a political movement. Followers of the Moon God of Islam are not running for office. They are too busy building 'community centers' and new mosques where they then radicalize their children, recruit young angry blacks as foot soldiers, and plan for the day when they can strike for ALLAH!

So you've seen the news, watched the talk shows, and no where the left sits (never stand). What are you going to do about it? Point it out, call it out, shout it out. Never let a leftist get their point out without challenging it. I don't care if your at work, church, your parents house, or out for a beer with the boys. Just don't let them spout some bullshit line from TV without being able to back it up! Think about it, at the very least, and come back later. Most people aren't true leftists, but the left has a very convincing political arm and they use the press masterfully. The war goes on, even though they hate it.

Tackling Dummies

Issues you can expect to see me take on here in a coming posts include;

The left's war on war
DRUGS!
Guns!
Lawyers!
The Murder of Culture

Sounds like fun. Not that interesting is really a good word. An ancient Chinese curse (reportedly) was "May you live in interesting times!". I would have to say these are interesting. In my 42 years thus far I can't say when more has ever occurred with such a potential to change the face of our reality.

America is a unique experiment. A little over 200 years in the making, it has been molded and shaped into something that does not at all resemble what it was conceived to be. Inconceivable! Our founding fathers, several dozen dead old white dudes who are slowy being vilified, were genius of an order seldom seen on the world stage. The fact that they got together and did what they did was nothing short of amazing. How few of this new growing generation either know this, or are being taught this? Almost none in our public schools. Ask my eight year old son who Paul Revere is, or Thomas Jefferson for that matter, and he gives you a blank look. The same response for "Who is George Washington?" But request he name a half dozen Pokemon characters, the staring players in Sponge Bob Square Pants, or the fairly Odd Parents, and you get your answer quickly. He also knows quite well who Martin Luther King Jr. is. That is a good thing, but that he would know who a minor player in the events of American history is (MLK), but no clue who wrote the declaration of independence is an outrage.

This disease extends deep, and grows deeper by the day. Our calendar is ripe with holidays celebrated by my fellow Americans, though few garner a well deserved day off. Christmas (I just smile at this one), new years, Independence Day, and a few others. Children in most school districts of our nation no longer get Columbus Day off. Sorry, he's almost worse than those founding father characters. He didn't help found a nation, he's a mass murderer. No, here we get off for MLK Day (yep, again) and Cinco De Mayo. Huh? My child gets to take off a day celebrated in another country?

In our schools, government offices, even private organizations the old trappings of pride and civic virtue are being scrubbed away with the harsh chemicals of political revisionism. As I heard recently, it's not that the other side is happy to have their monuments to multiculturalism (more on that horrific word some other time) or tolerance in the town square next to ours; they will only be happy when ours are torn down and burned. The founding fathers are like that statue of Saddam Hussein, the new regime has the tank chain tied around his neck, they're only trying to find enough traction in the sands of the political landscape before slamming it in gear and ripping its head off. What then? Rather like what happened to the celebrations of Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's Birthday, they morphed into President's Day. A single unrecognizable holiday that not even most banks close for any more.

In the book 1984 a grim view of the future political body was presented to us with New Speak as its shining example of progress. Twenty two years after that forecasted time we don't yet have New Speak, but we do have Political Correctness. What I consider to be the most dangerous movement to ever sweep the land. What can be so dangerous about just being careful what you say? Because it's not born from any concern over what you say but rather a wrongminded attempt to create thought police, pure and simple. My father (of Irish/Scottish decent) used to have heated arguments with his neighbor of Polish decent. It was not uncommon to hear my dad called a stupid potato eater, and my dad accuse him of being a crazy polock. They were best friends until the day that wonderful neighbor died a quick and painful death of cancer. My father held his hand as he passed beyond; the man's own son didn't have time to be there. Today? They would have both been labeled as bigots and cast out. They both knew what they were, and had no problem with someone laughing along with them. Generations ago their families had melted into the landscape of America. No, wait, these days that's a bad thing. They say we can't have any melting pot action, it's absolutely necessary to maintain our "old country" ways; culture is everything, we must keep the old and throw out the new. We can't become Americans, they are evil! Cue the American Self Loathing movement; enter stage left.

There is too much to say now, after 2am with my wife snoring loudly on the couch. (Thank you so much dear! I'll kill you later.) I'm going to try to tackle some of my feelings, observations, and beliefs piece by piece over the next few posts. If some of you like what you see, tell me. If you disagree, tell me too. As a firm constitutionalist, I will defend with my dying breath your right to be wrong.

Guns! Can't wait to get into that one.
